----A MANUFACTURER OF UNIQUE VHF RADIO
NOISE PRODUCTS.
Since its founding in 1972 by a several
faculty members of the University of California, San Diego, La Jolla
Sciences has been developing and offering a specialized set of instruments
for scientific monitoring and research within the radio noise spectrum.
|
 |
RIOMETER. For the measurement of
galactic radio noise and for research in upper atmosphere and magnetospheric
physics. Our third generation instrument is all solid state and field
proven in Antarctica and the Arctic. Operating frequencies can be set from
20MHz to 100MHz, wideband or narrow band. Apart from the traditional role
of the Riometers, other applications could include radio noise monitoring,
field strength measurements and radio astronomy. Sections of the Riometer
can be used for |
|
RF switching,
power linear RF detection, synchronous
detection and timing sequences. Custom modules are produced to order. |
ANTENNA. A portable, rugged wide beam
antenna kit has been produced for use with the Riometer to provide a wide
beam for vertical monitoring. The kit is easy to transport and easy to
install and has given long term service in Antarctic field sites for many
years. La Jolla Sciences has also been involved in the development of
steerable narrow beam arrays used in the Riometer Imaging Systems (IRIS). |

|
PORTABLE NOISE GENERATOR. This
miniature battery operated solid state noise
|
|
source is calibrated against a
standard noise source and is invaluable for all Riometer installations.
With a single level control, it can be used as a steady noise source or can
be varied to check the operation of the complete antenna, Riometer,
recording system combination in the field. |
